Copyright Policy

1. Overview

Hymnly is a tool for storing, editing and sharing worship song chord sheets. Songs added to Hymnly are uploaded by our users. Lyrics and musical works are protected by copyright law and remain the property of their authors and publishers.

2. Your Responsibility

When you add a song to Hymnly — by typing it in, importing it from a PDF, or pasting a link from another source — you are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to do so. Uploading content you do not own or have permission to use may infringe the rights of the copyright holder.

Songs you create in Hymnly are private to your account by default. Sharing songs publicly or with others (including via setlists or shared links) extends your responsibility to that further use.

3. CCLI & Church Use

To display or perform copyrighted worship songs in a public church service, your church typically needs a valid CCLI license (or an equivalent license from the relevant rights organization in your country). Hymnly does not grant you any performance rights. Make sure your church's license covers the songs you use.

4. Takedown Requests for Rights Holders

If you are the copyright owner (or an authorized representative) of a work that has been added to Hymnly without your permission, please contact us at copyright@hymnly.se with the following information:

We will review valid requests promptly and remove or restrict the content where appropriate. You always retain the right to request removal at any time.

5. Counter-Notices

If your content has been removed and you believe the removal was a mistake, you may contact us at copyright@hymnly.se with an explanation. Provide enough context for us to verify the claim.

6. Repeat Infringers

We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly upload content in violation of copyright law.
